Out this week (30 May – 5 June)

What are you going to watch this weekend?

This week we have at least 5 noticeable releases, and they come in very different flavours.

niceguys2THE NICE GUYS (Fri 3rd June) Comedy thriller settled in LA in the 70s. The comedy duo is rather unusual, Ryan Gosling and Russel Crowe but sounds like they may be the ultimate date movie: literally they got it all covered, the cute, the rough and the gun. (116 mins) Watch Trailer here

race800_624x355x1RACE (Fri 3rd June) Finally a movie on Jesse Owens! Literally this guy was awesome. He dared winning the Olympics in 1936 Nazi-Berlin, hosted by sweetheart Adolf, who wanted to show the superiority of the Arian race. Only glitch, Jesse was black.. oops! Fun fact: Rudy from The Book Thief has the “Jesse Owen Incident”, where he painted himself black to race 100m at the local sport field, somehow not as appreciated as one would think. emilia-clarke-sam-clafin-f541db65-8a26-43dd-ab9f-b19bbd90179cME BEFORE YOU (Fri 3rd June) You could not get over Finnick’s death in Mockinjay part 2? Well, Sam Claflin is back, just on a wheelchair but, at least he is alive, I guess!? Anyway, go on for the ultimate chick flick, they are good looking, unlucky, in love everything you need to dig in your Asda tissue box, jumbo pack. (110 mins) Watch Trailer Here

NErXGvtnG4Xtvu_1_bTEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: Out Of The Shadows (Mon 30th May) I don’t actually know what to add to the title. I have to say, I used to watch them all the time as a kid and yes, I had 3 water turtles called Donatella, Raphael and Michelangelo, but I’m still not sure about this one. Let me know what you think. wm0WARCRAFT: The Beginning (Fri 3rd June) JG from the ShortList wrote: “Any film that contains the line, delivered with po-face solemnity, ‘We must stop the orcs from opening the portal’, is unlikely to be date material”. JG I have to say, I’m sorry for your sentimental life. Like my friend Ames said “this looks crap, but thoroughly enjoyable crap”, we’ll see to that I guess. (123 mins) Watch Trailer Here
